SPEED LADDER TRAINING TIPS
By: Coach Pete
 |

"Coach Pete
with Omega Speed Training
has helped me grow as an athlete. The speed training
programs, and speed training camps were awesome! In the strength and
conditioning programs that were given by Omega
Speed Training - I have seen a
ton of improvement in a short period of time.
Omega Speed Training workouts are the best and I look forward to
coming to the gym to workout because I know the
workout I am now doing is getting big results.
I can't thank Coach Pete with Omega Speed
Training enough, he knows his
stuff when it comes to speed training and knows how to work with a variety of
people. He is the man - thanks Coach
Pete!"

Below you will
find 4 tips that will help you in your agility
"Speed Ladder"
program.
First, remember
and keep the principle of the following saying,
"Go as fast as you can, not as fast as you
can't!" What this means is that it is
always better to complete the exercise and/or
drill correctly than it is to "stick" the ladder
and drag it halfway through the drill, because
you were attempting to go too fast - at a speed
you could not control!
Second, find and get into the rhythm while doing
the drill. Listen to your feet and make
sure they are achieving a rhythm, before you
increase the pace of the drill. Don't let
yourself graduate to a faster pace until you
have mastered the current rhythm.
Third, if the second tip made no sense to you
and rhythm eludes you, use your words as a cue.
For example, say out loud to yourself, "in, in,
OUT!" or "out, out, IN!"
Finally, avoid the "FROZEN ARM SYNDROME!"
I think that it is a prerequisite to speed
ladder training that all athletes become unaware
of their upper body movements while focusing on
where their feet are moving in and out of the
ladder. You must pay attention to your
upper body also. Your upper body must
follow correct form and technique while speed
ladder training. Training without proper
arm mechanics will not produce functional
results.
