About Omega Kids Fitness Quest

Omega Kids Fitness Quest was created in 2007 to put a dent in the current youth obesity epidemic by increasing physical activity in adolescents and teens through after-school programs that provide strength, conditioning, speed, agility and quickness training. (click here to read our mission)

Omega Kids Fitness Quest is NOT a fat camp for kids, instead it is a program designed to educate and train children in the newest techniques to help enhance their physical abilities as young athletes and so that they have the tools necessary to avoid obesity throughout their childhood and into adulthood.  The program is extremely beneficial to both athletic and non-athletic children, alike.

A Fitness Program Designed For Kids!  When it comes to fitness, kids are not miniature adults.  They have specific physiologic differences that make them unique.  Therefore, their fitness programs and activities must be specific to their developmental stage and not just a watered down version of an adult's.  Omega Kids Fitness Quest takes pride in the fact that it's fitness program is designed just for kids and their fitness needs and goals.

Omega Kids Fitness Quest Workouts are designed to increase self- esteem, decrease body fat, increase strength & endurance, prevent sport related injuries, increase kids’ cognitive ability and build a sense of “team” through partner and group exercises. We give young athletes the confidence that no other program can give them.

Circuit Style Format.  The 45 minute workout is often set up in a "circuit style" format. Circuit Training is a high-intensity cardiovascular workout combined with weight resistant exercises
(click here to learn more about children and strength training) This type of workout is often set up in a series of stations, stopping only briefly before each exercise to keep the children's heart rate within a safe, but effective training range.  Since we are outdoors or in a gymnasium setting, we do not use the traditional weight training equipment, instead we promote "functional fitness" training.

Functional Fitness Training is extremely beneficial for children in day-to-day activities, coordination development, sports development and injury prevention; not to mention the KIDS LOVE IT!
(click here to learn more about OKFQ's workouts).

Fun, Fun, Fun!  The kids have a blast while learning how to use the free weights, tubes, stability balls, mini-hurdles, agility ladders, cones, jump ropes, steps, obstacle courses, power endurance exercises, and plyometric exercises.  They are continuously smiling as they learn the safe, effective prop use of each exercise and then complete the station's challenge towards greater fitness and enhancement of their physical abilities as young athletes

Target audience:   Initially, the program will be offered to 2nd –  8th grade children. There are no tryouts or “cuts” so all kids - athletic and non-athletic, fit and unfit, boys and girls will be served.

Nutrition.  Participants of Omega Kids Fitness Quest spend some time each week learning the importance of being active, nutrition and making healthy food choices.
