Omega Youth Athletes Excel at Junior
Olympic Level!
As a sixth grader at Magnolia Middle School,
Nick Mertens
clocked mediocre mile times in his first
season of competitive track and field.
“Suddenly, this year I started winning
and beating people by 100 meters, but I
would just race against my school,” said
Mertens, who will be an eighth grader in
the fall. “It didn’t really get me
anywhere.”
That’s where Coach Pete came in.
The head track coach at the middle
school who also instructs sprints and
jumps at Bear River High, Negri launched
Omega Youth Track Club earlier this
year. He was immediately sanctioned by
the sport’s national governing body, USA
Track and Field, as well as the Amateur
Athletic Union.
Composed primarily of Negri’s Magnolia
and Bear River athletes (speed training
athletes), the club, which
holds practice three days a week at Bear
River High, was an instant hit.
The club has excelled since its
inception, advancing athletes in both
the USATF Junior Olympic Games and the
AAU Junior Olympics.
Last weekend, nine of the 17 Omega
athletes who competed during the first
round of the USATF Junior Olympics in
Livermore advanced to the second round
in Bakersfield..." (read

"Coach Pete has been our daughter’s track and field coach for almost two
years. I am very pleased to give him the highest recommendation possible. Pete
is a highly trained coach with great personal integrity. He possesses a myriad
of knowledge of multiple athletic disciplines, and has an exceptional gift to
coach young athletes. Coach Pete is highly competitive, yet his goal for each
young athlete is to encourage them to achieve a level of success that fits them
individually.
Additionally, Coach Pete has taught our daughter the importance of safety,
injury prevention, and proper nutrition during her training. Most importantly,
Pete has developed a healthy coach-athlete relationship with our daughter. She
has a tremendous amount of respect and admiration for her coach, and has learned
so much in such a short time."

"Coach Pete and Omega Speed Training helped me tremendously.
Coach Pete put
me on a strength and conditioning and muscle gaining
program. After the first 2 weeks I grew in
muscle and strength. I never thought I would
see results so fast, but I did. Coach Pete and
his workouts are simply the best!"

that I could reach my full potential at college.
After working with Coach Pete, I have seen my

Coach Pete's heart is with
the youth athletic programs he is currently
involved with. He has dedicated himself to
the betterment of the youth in athletic

"Coach
Pete put together a pre-season speed training
and conditioning program for our Junior Bruin
Football Program. The results were immediate.
I strongly recommend that anyone interested in
developing faster athletes will use Coach Pete
and his speed training programs or attend an
Omega Speed Camp. They will not be disappointed
in the results."

"I would
recommend Coach Pete for both his knowledge
as well as his desire to succeed and lead. I
am currently a member of the Placer County
Municiple Advisory Council for the Auburn
area. I have also been on the Board of
Directors for years with the Sacramento
Adult Soccer Association. In that role I
coordinated fields, referees and schedules
for all adult soccer in the Sacramento area.
So I do have an understanding and I also
know through many years of management what
it takes to be successful at anything in
life and that is effort and hard work. Coach
Pete has provided that in all of the
athletic training capacities he has been in.
He has always demonstrated his
commitment to do the right thing, he is
continuously furthering his education as a
coach and it has been my business experience
with Coach Pete that he completes what he
starts and does not limit himself to
satisfactory. He strives for the best
that he can be and do for his clients."

Coach Pete sets reasonable expectations for the young athletes he coaches, while
at the same time he encourages them to reach their own personal potential. He
understands all aspects of the athlete, and is a gifted communicator with
boundless enthusiasm. The result is young athletes learning to sincerely enjoy
sports for the right reasons: enjoyment, competition, desire, personal success,
and most of all FUN!
Coach Pete has proven himself to be an exemplary athletic coach and
trainer in our community."

"Coach Pete with
Omega Speed Training helped me grow as a college
athlete. The speed training programs, and
speed training camps were awesome! In the
strength and conditioning programs that were given
by Omega Speed Training - I have seen a ton of
improvement in a short period of time. Omega
Speed Training workouts are the best and I look
forward to coming to the gym to workout because I
know the workout I am now doing is getting big
results. I can't thank Coach Pete with Omega
Speed Training enough, he knows his stuff when it
comes to speed training and knows how to work with a
variety of people. He is the man - thanks
Coach Pete!"

"One of
Coach Pete's many valuable strengths is his
ability to take charge of a project and
complete and finish the project, within
budget and within the proper time
schedule. Pete leads through his ability to
motivate others around him. Pete has a take
charge personality, he is self motivated,
and is a problem solver. I have personally
had the opportunity to be a Co-Coach with
Pete and this
experience provided me the
opportunity to learn first hand from him.
He
is a great teacher, and coach. Coach Pete has
the ability to build up others around him.
He has integrity, and is likeable. Coach Pete
always has a cheery smile on his face, he is
a person you want to work with, he is a
person you want to be involved with. I have
personally witnessed Coach Pete motivate
and develop the youth in our community.
Many of our current community members and
their children have
benefited from their involvement with Coach Pete.
Coach Pete would drop what he is doing to
help anyone in need. You can count on Pete,
he is that type of person!"

"During
Coach Pete's 2008 pre-season speed training
program, we collected pre and post data on the
varsity football players in both a 40 yard dash
and a pro agility and found that almost everyone
of our players improved in their time and a few
knocked off as much as three tenths of a second
off their 40 time. All of our varsity guys
noticeably improved their form.
We actually replaced our static stretch program
that has been in place since 1988 with Coach
Pete's football dynamic warm-up routine.
That in itself should speak volumes to what we
think of Coach Pete's training! Coach Pete
is more than just knowledgeable about speed
training, he develops a great rapport with the
young athletes. Pete makes his workouts
fun, interesting and age appropriate. The
players love him! We found Pete to also be
dependable, professional and passionate about
what he does. We plan on using Omega
Fitness for our off season Football training for
all three levels at the high school. Coach
Pete gets our highest recommendation and
endorsement."

"We
were immediately impressed with Coach Pete's
knowledge. We are football Coaches and
have over 50 years of football coaching
experience between us, yet when it comes to
running form and speed development, we are
novices. This of course is Coach
Pete's strength and boy, did he help our
kids! Within one week, we noticed a
huge improvement in their running form.
The players were very impressed with Coach
Pete's knowledge and respected him as well."

RAVE REVIEWS FOR
OMEGA BOOT CAMPS
Below are just a few of the many testimonials:
"If
you don’t have the self motivation then this
class provides accountability in a fun way!
Gave me a fresh perspective on working out and
feeling good about myself! The early morning is
a great way to start your day." ~Hannah
"I
love the Boot Camp workout. Every day is a
different challenge. I like the way the workout
changes every day. No two days are exactly the
same, so I never get bored. It's hard getting
up so early, but the workout is so much fun, it
motivates me to just get up and do it." ~Becky
"I
knew I had to exercise regularly but I just
couldn't bring myself to join another gym. When
I work out by myself I just can't stay motivated
and inspired to push myself further. A
girlfriend of mine suggested that I look for a
local boot camp. I joined Omega Boot Camp and I
have lost inches, tons of body fat, built
strength, and made many new friends. Coach Pete
keeps me focused on my goals and honest about
whether I'm doing the very best workout that I
can." ~Michelle |
